Max. size:  26 cm TL (male/unsexed); 30.8 cm SL (female); max. reported age: 8 years
Environment:  bathydemersal; marine; depth range 25 - 925 m
Distribution:  North Pacific: Sea of Japan to the Bering Sea and southeastern Alaska.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 10-12; Dorsal soft rays (total): 21-23; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 20-24. Eye large, orbital diameter 1.5 times snout length; maxillary with small ctenoid scales (Ref. 559).
Biology:  Commonly between 100 and 380 m on mud, sand, pebbles, gravel and shell.
