Max. size:  10 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; freshwater; pH range: 7 - 9; dH range: 10 - 15
Distribution:  Africa: Endemic to Lake Tanganyika but does not occur in both ends of the lake.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Do not form schools. Occurs over solid rock, either anchored and part of the hard core of the coast, interlocking rubble, or even sandstone slabs lining a beach but not loose pebbles rolling about in the surf or silted habitats (Ref. 6770).
