Family:  Haemulidae (Grunts), subfamily: Haemulinae
Max. size:  20 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  reef-associated; marine; depth range 3 - 18 m
Distribution:  Southeast Pacific: endemic to the Galapagos Islands.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Forms large, dense, polarized schools along walls and over rocky slopes, often in somewhat protected areas (Ref. 5227).
