Family:  Amphiliidae (Loach catfishes), subfamily: Leptoglaninae
Max. size:  2.5 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; freshwater
Distribution:  Africa: Wami River drainage in Tanzania (Ref. 58692, 86935).
Diagnosis:  Diagnosis: Zaireichthys wamiensis is distinguishable from other Zaireichthys species by its small size and unique colour pattern, consisting of two rows of dark brownish spots, arranged along the back of the fish and along the median line of each side of the body (Ref. 58692, 86935).
