Family:  Xenocyprididae (East Asian minnows)
Max. size:  29.1 cm TL (male/unsexed); max.weight: 153.7 g
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater; brackish
Distribution:  Asia: Mekong and Nam Ma basins in Laos; central and northern Viet Nam and southern China.
Diagnosis:  Belly with keel between anal and pelvic origin; 15-17 branched anal rays; last simple dorsal ray ossified (Ref. 43281).
Biology:  Maximum length reaches up to at least 21.5 cm SL (Ref. 43281).

Threat to humans:  harmless
Country info:  Recorded from Nam Ngay, Nam Ou basin in Phongsali Province (Mekong basin) and from Nam Ma basin in Houaphan Province (Ref. 37786). Possibly introduced in the Mekong basin in Phongsali (Ref. 43281).
