Comments Filter-feeding invertebrates (either sessile or mobile) play important roles in almost all aquatic ecosystems. Filter-feeding species are found in almost all marine and freshwater phyla and show an enormous variety in functional traits. Above other groups, I am especially fascinated by gelatinous zooplankton (primarily medusae, siphonophores, ctenophores and pelagic tunicates). The main objective of my Ph.D. study is to predict whether the pelagic food web in British Columbian waters could transform into a gelatinous web or not and how this could alter trophic interactions.
