This species is native to the River Labe (Elbe) basin and probably also in River Odra (Oder). However, it is considered non-native in the drainage area of River Morava (Black Sea basin) for it occurs there solely as a result of stocking (Ref. 52149). Considered near threatened in 2000 (Ref. 41386). Also Ref. 90060.
