Historically absent from western Norway (Ref. 59043). Northern distribution reported with large specimens observed in smallish ponds and slow rivers. Several companies offers guided pike fishing trips in Finnmark, northernmost county (http://www.altafishing.info/5.html) (Bjørn Ivar Fresvik (pers.comm. 08/08).
