Type locality, several km off the mainland coast between the coast and Islas Secas, USNM 378272 (holotype of Symphurus ocellaris, 7.32 cm SL, female). The two specimens of S. ocellaris were taken in the environs of Coiba Island, Pacific Panama; on sand bottoms; the paratype in a rotenone station at 7 m near-shore; the holotype at 20 m at a station located about 2 km offshore (Ref. 75618). |
