This species is distinguished by having the following characters: yellowish breast, fins and throat; basal process on the largest first-arch gill-rakers; bicuspidate lower symphysial teeth with a small lingual cusp; distally two rows of interradial scales on anal fin; opercle with spots, part of a rather indistinct longitudinal stripe (Ref. 74403).
