Coloration: body grayish-brown to gray, with dusky unpaired fins; soft portions of dorsal and anal fins, as well as caudal fin, may exhibit some pale dots; pelvic fins dark; belly, throat and opercles red; some horizontal red lines often present on flanks, more apparent in anterior areas of body and broader in ventral areas than in upper ones (Ref. 52307).
