Diagnosis

This species is distinguished from its congeners in having its unique coloration: nuptial males violaceous blue with 7-8 well marked dark bar, all extending to venter; females' dorsal fins blackish in the proximal two thirds, ocellus with round black spot usually smaller than pupil; anal usually with a posterior dark spot near its base; eye diameter 1.2-1.6 times and maxilla 0.83-1.2 times in anal base (similar to C. longidorsalis); postdorsal-postanal distance 0.9-1.0 times in caudal peduncle length; teeth absent on 4th ceratobranchial; anal base large 2.5-3.2 times in head length; head length 2.8-3.2 times in SL (Ref. 26729).
