This species is distinguished by the following set of characters: dorsal and anal fins with three unbranched rays; pseudobranchial filaments 19-21 (modally 20); branched pectoral-fin rays 12-13 (13); gill rakers on first gill arch, in upper series 20-22 (22), in lower series 25-27 (27), in total 45-49 (49); gill rakers on second gill arch, upper series15-17 (17), lower series 24-26 (25), total 40-43 (40, 42); gill rakers on third gill arch, upper series 12-16 (14), lower series 13-15 (14), total 26-31 (26, 28); gill rakers on fourth gill arch, upper series 11-13 (12), lower series 11-12 (11), total 22-25 (23); prepelvic scutes 5-6 (5); transverse scales 11; head long, its length 29.1%-29.2% (mean 29.2%) of SL; upper jaw long, its length 20.8%-22.5% (mean 21.2%) of SL, with posterior tip reaching to posterior edge of preopercle; lower jaw long, the length 19.0%-20.7% (mean 19.7%) of SL; the first unbranched dorsal- and anal-fin rays are minute, the length 0.9%-1.5% (mean 1.1%) and 0.9%-1.6% (mean 1.2%) of SL, respectively; distance from dorsal-fin origin to upper end of pectoral-fin insertion is rather long, 97.5%-106.3% of HL (mean 103.9%) (Ref. 128576). |
