| Comments | Reviews all reports before 2017 in the Mediterranean Sea as misidentifications for Bregmaceros nectabanus. We have determined that all previously published records of B. atlanticus from the Mediterranean Sea, the first being D’Ancona and Cavinato (1965), are based on misidentifications, and that B. nectabanus is the correct identity of all such verifiable records. |
