Dorsal spines (total): 3; Dorsal soft rays (total): 13; Anal spines: 1; Anal soft rays: 9 - 10; Vertebrae: 27 - 28. The species is distinguished by the following characters: spined posterior and lower margins of the praeoperculum, in the angular part of it is an unspined notch; insertion of the ventral fins is in front of the vertical of the posterior margin of the pectoral fin insertion; upper jaw extends beyond the vertical of the posterior eye margin; soft rays in dorsal fin 13, in anal fin 9-10; first branchial arch with 31-33 rakers; vertebrae 27-28; pyloric caeca 8 (Ref. 83719).
Specimens were seined with non-closing fishing gear in the range of depths 3000-0 m and with bottom fishing gear is seined at 1640-2000 m (Ref. 83719).
