It has a lengthened and slim body (depth at the dorsal fin origin: 16.9-18.7% SL) and a small and narrow head (width 60.0-68.7% HL, height at occiput 40.0-50.0% HL); and a narrow interorbital space (46.6-50.0% HL). The lateral line has 33-34 scales and 3 pectoral fin rays. It also has a poorly developed callous pad behind the lower lip that is not posteriorly defined. The pectoral fin is longer than the head, tubercles are present on the snout, and a black bar is visible on the anal fin.
