Dorsal fin slightly notched between spinous and soft portions; pectoral rays usually 12;lacking lateral-line tubes; gill opening extending ventrally opposite level of pectoral rays 8-12; head cirri absent; body depth ca. 6.1 in SL. Maximum size at least 3.5 cm TL (Ref. 90102).
Adults inhabit mangroves (Ref. 90102). Oviparous. Eggs are demersal and adhesive (Ref. 205), and are attached to the substrate via a filamentous, adhesive pad or pedestal (Ref. 94114). Larvae are planktonic, often found in shallow, coastal waters (Ref. 94114).
