Dorsal spines (total): 12; Dorsal soft rays (total): 9-10; Anal spines: 3; Anal soft rays: 5. Lachrymal spines 2. Only Micronesian Sebastapistes with cycloid to emarginate scales on its sides (Ref. 37816).
