Dorsal fin with dark distal margin; 5-7 narrow well-defined stripes on body; 30-40 gill rakers on lower arm of first arch; maxillary barbel 1/4 of eye diameter (Ref. 12693).
Occurs from midwater to bottom depths in canals, ditches and small streams of floodplains, and more commonly in larger rivers as the temporary water bodies dry up. Migrates into seasonally inundated land during rainy season, where it feeds on algae, periphyton and phytoplankton. Most likely used to make prahoc (Ref. 12693).
