A member of the group of species with complete or nearly complete lateral line, 8 1/2 branched dorsal rays, 9+8 branched caudal rays and no sexual dimorphism. Its small eyes (2.4-3.4% SL, 13-18% HL, 2.5-3.0 times in interorbital width) and its peculiar color pattern consisting in 13-18 thin irregularly set bars distinguish it from any other species. Emarginate caudal fin (Ref. 39226).
Inhabits hill streams (Ref. 12041). Feeds on insect larvae (Ref. 39226).
