Biologia     Glossario (es. epibenthic)

Inhabits streams and small lakes; prefers flowing water with abundant cover in the form of aquatic vegetation (Ref. 44894). Occurs in creeks and lakes, usually among aquatic weeds. Feeds on insects, insect larvae and planktonic crustaceans (Ref. 5259, 44894). Swims in small shoals, sometimes with N. australis. Breeding season is in spring (September and October). Slight morphological differences exist between populations from the extreme western and eastern parts of the range that could warrant their placement into separate subspecies (Ref. 44894).

Estimates based on models

Phylogenetic diversity index (Ref. 82804):  PD50 = 0.5156   [Uniqueness, from 0.5 = low to 2.0 = high].
Bayesian length-weight: a=0.01072 (0.00408 - 0.02815), b=3.01 (2.79 - 3.23), in cm total length, based on LWR estimates for this (Sub)family-body shape (Ref. 93245).
Trophic level (Ref. 69278):  3.2   ±0.36 se; based on food items.
Resilienza (Ref. 120179):  Medio, tempo minimo di raddoppiamento della popolazione 1.4 - 4.4 anni (Assuming Fec<10,000).
Fishing Vulnerability (Ref. 59153):  Low vulnerability (10 of 100).
