Dorsal fin well in advance of pelvic fin; caudal fin with upper lobe slightly longer than lower lobe; rays at middle of anal fin longer than body depth where they attach; anal fin completely confluent with caudal fin; gill rakers reduced to small nubs (Ref. 12693).
Occurs mainly in acid-water swamp forest and forest streams (Ref. 32835). Hides under submerged logs and leaf litter during the day and comes out at night swimming near the surface to feed (Ref. 32835). Feeds on terrestrial insects (Ref. 32835). Carnivorous (Ref. 85309).
