خارهاي باله پشتي (کل) : 6 - 9; شعاع نرم باله پشتي (کل) : 8 - 11; خارهاي باله مخرجي: 1; شعاع نرم باله مخرجي: 10 - 13. Anus set behind tips of pelvic fins. Lower jaw highly elevated posteriorly. Attains 15 cm SL.

Forms schools near the surface of inshore waters. Feeds on zooplankton.
