Wide fringed membranous maxillary barbel in females; a single patch of vomerine teeth; pectoral-fin spine thin and smooth in females and thin with weak serrations in males (Ref. 12693). Posterior nostril above and behind eye (Ref. 43281).
Inhabits large upland rivers (Ref. 12693) and enters flooded forest (Ref. 9497). Found in rapids and in deep slow reaches (Ref. 37771). Feeds on worms, plants, animal debris and insects. Sold fresh (Ref. 12693).
