This species is engaged in large-scale seasonal migrations in the Rio Mogi Guassu (= Mogi-Guaçu), a tributary of the upper Rio Paraná. Forty to 50-day old juveniles were reported to be zooplanktivores and the larger individuals were detrivores (Ref. 11334).
