Dorsal soft rays (total): 0; Anal soft rays: 0. Rays (7-8) present only in caudal fin. Pelvic fins tiny and vestigial sucking disk present. Color variable, from brown to green to orange, often bright; with or without spots or ocelli in series along sides.
Intertidal and up to 10 m depth (Ref. 9002); found under rocks (Ref. 9002) and, reef and weed areas (Ref. 33839, 56640).
