Found in inlets and backwaters of rivers and streams. Forages mostly at twilight, stalking larger fishes to feed on their scales. Approaches its intended prey stealthily and usually aims at its flank. Strikes mostly with its mouth closed, dislodging the scales with its stout, external and forward-directed teeth. The jarring strike dislodges a few scales which are swallowed immediately if taken in the mouth, or gathered as they sink. Also feeds on aquatic insects (Ref. 40383).
發現於河川與溪流的小水灣與洄水區了。 在晨昏大部份覓食,悄悄靠近較大的魚覓食他們的鱗片。 暗地裡接近它的屬意的獵物而且通常瞄準它的側面。 大部份以嘴巴閉合的方式攻擊, 逐出那鱗片有它的矮胖的﹐外部的與朝向前齒。 輾軋的攻擊逐出如果當他們下沉，採自了嘴巴, 或聚集了，一些鱗片那是緊鄰吞。 也吃水生昆蟲。 (參考文獻 40383)
