Dorsal soft rays (total): 12 - 14; Anal soft rays: 25 - 27. Smooth body without scale, only male has a line of big but thin scale (around 23-24) near the origin of the caudal fin. Dorsal fin is the later part of the back, very small adipose fin. Anal fin is relatively large. White opaque body, becomes milky white when it is dead, its head transparent (Ref. 33336).
