Etymology: Acrochordonichthys: Greek, akros = summit, topmost + Greek, chorda = nervous line + Greek, ichthys = fish (Ref. 45335); gyrinus: The specific name is derived from the Latin gyrinus (rounded or curve), referring to the concave posterior margin of the pectoral fin of this species (Ref. 50585).
