背棘 (總數) : 8 - 9; 背的軟條 (總數) : 7 - 8; 臀鰭軟條: 8 - 10; 脊椎骨: 40 - 42. This species is distinguished by the following characters: two pairs of patches of barbels on the ventral surface of snout, with 10-13 barbels in both patches on each side; upper preopercular spine with a well-expanded lateral keel; 2-2.5 plates in DLR between tip of depressed first dorsal fin and origin of second dorsal fin; the dorsal and lateral plates of caudal peduncle with pronounced spines; body sides behind head without transverse black bands; general body background colour is greenish-brown (Ref. 130867).
