This species is distinguished by the following characters: maxillary barbel in larger specimens reaching oral disc, but do not in smaller individuals; pectoral fin I,7, associated to the thrid radial; unbranched rays of caudal fin are equal and slightly projected; free vertebrae 26; fifth ceratobranchial with 6 teeth on the anterior region (Ref. 128914).
