Spine dorsali (totale) : 0; Raggi dorsali molli (totale) : 16 - 20; Spine anali: 0; Raggi anali molli: 15 - 18. Purple in color but preserved specimens turn brownish (Ref. 6619). Branchiostegal rays: 3-5+4 (Ref. 36689).

Adults probably bathypelagic, young from 10-200 m (Ref. 6533). Feed on copepods (Ref. 6714). Observed hovering vertically (Ref. 6619). Oviparous, with planktonic larvae (Ref. 36689).
