In males, the first branched pectoral-fin ray is rigid, about twice the width of the second, branched once, no membrane between branches except near the tip; the second branched ray is longest, branched once; other branched rays are branched three times; a wide, thickened unculiferous pad on the dorsal surface of pectoral-fin rays, covered by small conical tubercles, prominent on the inner edges of first branched ray, with similar tubercles of lesser number in other branched rays; suborbital flap, with distal tip broadly cut square, with small tubercles along its anterior and posterior edges; these modifications are absent in females (Ref. 132199).
