Symptoms: | Ulcer, haemorrhages, increased mucus production, fins frayed and denuded of tissue, pale gills, erratic swimming, clamped fins, at surface, near inflow, jumping out of water, scraping, heavy ventilation. | |
Treatments: | Can be treated with Trichlorfon (0.25-3.0 mg/1 liter water for 3 days), the dose depends on the water hardness, the harder the water, the more Trichlorfon can be used (Ref. 41805). Also Masoten bath 25 to 30 g/l for 5 to 10 minutes can be effective. | |
Prophylaxis: | Appropriate diet. Quarantine and desinfection before stocking. | |
Remarks: | The fluke is a live-bearing parasite, meaning that it can reproduce rapidly. It can quickly transferred from fish to fish if the treatment is not applied as soon as possible. | |
