Raios dorsais moles (total) : 9; Raios anais moles: 8. Spots on lateral line scales; black submarginal stripe on each caudal-fin lobe (Ref. 12693). Well-developed barbels; no tubercles on snout tip; anterior pelvic ray with long filament; longitudinal row of roundish spots (often fused into a stripe), continuing as stripe on caudal peduncle and upper caudal lobe; middle caudal rays colorless (Ref. 43281).
Occur in river mainstream and low gradient tributaries with logs and leaf litter on the bottom (Ref. 7050). Found at the surface of flowing waters. Feed mostly on fish (Ref. 12693).
