Espinas dorsales (total) : 0; Radios blandos dorsales (total) : 65 - 71; Espinas anales: 0; Radios blandos anales: 52 - 56; Vértebra: 51 - 53. Eye large, its diameter equal or greater than postorbital length of the head. Chin barbel present. Color pale pinkish; dorsal fin dusky distally; a dark spot at the tip of the first dorsal fin (Ref. 1371). Usually unpaired fins margined with black (Ref. 27363).
Body shape (shape guide): elongated; Cross section: oval.
A benthic species found on the continental slope (Ref. 75154). Living from the inner shelf, in far southern South America, to depths beyond 1000 m.
