Dorsal spines (total): 3; Dorsal soft rays (total): 7 - 8; Anal spines: 3; Anal soft rays: 8 - 10; Vertebrae: 34 - 36. The only species of the genus in Lesbos Islands and southwestern Turkey which can be differentiated from Petroleuciscus borysthenicus by having the following characters: dorsal fin with 7½ branched rays; anal fin usually with 8½ branched rays; iris whitish; lateral line with 32-35 scales; posterior margin of anal fin straight or slightly concave; free margin of each flank with black pigments (Ref. 59043).
Inhabits slow-flowing to standing water (Ref. 59043).
