Etymology: Centropyge: Greek, kentron = sting + Greek, pyge = tail (Ref. 45335); narcosis: From the Greek 'narke' meaning numbness or torpor, referring to the extreme effects of nitrogen narcosis (experienced by the author and Mr. Boyle while collecting the holotype.
