Facultative air-breathing in the genus (Ref. 126274); Occurs in forest creeks, 4 to 8 m wide, 0.3 to 2 m deep, over sandy bottom with flowing water. During reproduction, the males have short odontodes restricted to some parts of their snout (Ref. 35381).
