Clés d'identification | Morphologie | Morphométrie
Distinguished from its congeners in British Isles by its unique dark brown or black fins, especially pectorals. Differs further by the combination of the following characters: body light brown to silvery with many large spots; red spots absent or few, small, inconspicuous, restricted to posterior part of body; and body depth about 3.9-4.4 times in SL (Ref. 59043).
A lacustrine and pelagic species, occurring in relatively deep water. Feeds predominantly on mid-water plankton, especially Cladocera, and chironomid pupae. Migrates to tributaries for spawning. Spawns in most lake tributaries. Attains a maximum size of up to about 33 cm SL (Ref. 59043).
