This species is a synonym of Cochlefelis spatula (Ramsay & Ogilby, 1886) in Eschmeyer (CofF ver. May 2011: Ref. 86870) following Kailola (2004: Ref. 86800). Treated under species inquirenda in Ariidae by Ferraris (2007: Ref. 58032). Please send references, or more studies are needed.
