Etymology: Talismania: Persian, tilism and taken after Greek, telesma, teleo = to make a sacrifice, and after, talisman; bussingi: Named for W. Bussing.
Eponymy: William ‘Bill’ A. Bussing (1933–2014) was an American ichthyologist at the School of Biology, Universidad de Costa Rica where he taught for over four decades, retiring as Professor Emeritus (1991). Military service in Korea interrupted his education [...] (Ref. 128868), visit book page.

脊椎骨: 47 - 49. Head short (28-31% SL); upper jaw 11-13% SL, posterior margin extends to caudal margin of pupil; orbit diameter almost equal to rostrum length (8-9% SL). Large scales; 54-56 scales in transverse series above the lateral line. First ray of pectoral fin thicker, elongated and thread-like beyond base of pelvic fin. Testis divided into 2 lobes (Ref. 33629).
頭部短 (28-31% SL); 上頜 11-13% SL, 後緣延伸到瞳孔的尾部邊緣; 眼窩直徑幾乎等於喙長度 (8-9% SL) 。大的鱗片; 在側線上面的橫跨系列中的 54-56個鱗片。第一個胸鰭的鰭條比較厚的﹐瘦長的與像線一樣的超過腹鰭的基底。精巢分開成 2個葉了。 (參考文獻 33629)
