Raggi dorsali molli (totale) : 25 - 28. Lateral trunk ridges deflected downwards and continuous with inferior tail ridge; inferior trunk and tail ridges not confluent; 16-17 trunk rings; tail rings 25-27; total rings 41-44; snout length 1.9-2.1 times in head length; body dark brown, without conspicuous series of darker spots on or above lateral trunk ridge (Ref. 36949).
Usually found in river stretches with slow current, among grasses, roots or shore vegetation (Ref. 43281). Ovoviviparous (Ref. 205). The male carries the eggs in a brood pouch which is found under the tail (Ref. 205).
