Etymology: Chalceus: Greek, chalkos = copper, brass (Ref. 45335).

Species inquirenda in Characidae according to Reis et al. (2003). This species is uncertain in Eschmeyer (CofF ver. May 2011: Ref. 86870) with no current species. Please send references, or more studies are needed.
