Etymology: Stegastes: Greek, stegastos, -e, -on = covered (Ref. 45335)lubbocki: The species is named lubbocki in memory of Or Roger Lubbock, the collector of the type material. An unfortunate traffic accident in Brazil prematurely ended his career in ichthyology. Although his professional life spanned relatively few years, Or Lubbock made numerous valuable contributions to the knowledge of reef fish taxonomy.
Eponymy: Dr Hugh Roger Lubbock (1951–1981) was an English marine biologist at Cambridge University. [...] (Ref. 128868), visit book page.

Most similar species: Stegastes pictus (Castelnau, 1855) in Brazil (Ref. 98447). At a lesser degree Stegastes partitus (Poey, 1868) in the Atlantic (Ref. 123407).

Estimates based on models

Phylogenetic diversity index (Réf. 82804):  PD50 = 0.5000   [Uniqueness, from 0.5 = low to 2.0 = high].
Bayesian length-weight: a=0.02089 (0.00953 - 0.04582), b=2.98 (2.80 - 3.16), in cm total length, based on LWR estimates for this Genus-body shape (Ref. 93245).
Résilience (Réf. 120179):  Haut, temps minimum de doublement de population inférieur à 15 mois (Preliminary K or Fecundity.).
Fishing Vulnerability (Ref. 59153):  Low vulnerability (10 of 100). 🛈
