Europe: Don, Kuban, Volga, Ural and Eya drainages (Ref. 59043). Asia: in most Siberian drainages, eastward to Amur and Huang He rivers in China (Ref. 59043), the Nura River in Kazakhstan and in rivers of Primor`e, Korea (Ref. 26334).

Body shape (shape guide): elongated.
Adults are found from small lowland streams to large rivers with gentle current, and lakes mostly with dense vegetation on sand-silt to sand-gravel bottom (Ref. 59043). Oviparous, possibly with distinct pairing during breeding similar to congeners (Ref. 205).
