Etymology: Placidochromis: Latin, placidus = of peaceful or tranquile appearance + Greek, chromis = a fish, perhaps a perch (Ref. 45335); macroceps: Derived from the Greek "makros" = big and the Latin suffix "-ceps" = head, referring to its large head (Ref. 55898).
