Etymology: Acestrocephalus: Greek, agkistron = hook + Greek, kepahle = head (Ref. 45335); stigmatus: Derived from the Greek word stigma, meaning mark, spot, in reference to the dark spot found at the humeral region of this species.
Environment: milieu / climate zone / 深度上下限 / distribution range
生态学
; 淡水 底中水层性.
South America: Rio Tocantins, Rio das Mortes (tributary of Rio Araguaia) and Rio Xingu in Brazil.
大小 / 重量 / 年龄
成熟度: Lm ?  range ? - ? cm
Max length : 13.5 cm TL 雄鱼/尚未辨别雌雄; (Ref. 111518); 最大体重: 45.00 g (Ref. 111518)
背的软条 (总数) : 11; 臀鳍软条: 33 - 35; 脊椎骨: 38 - 39. Distinguished from all species of Acestrocephalusexcept Acestrocephalus boehlkei and Acestrocephalus maculosus by having a dark humeral blotch. Differs from Acestrocephalus boehlkei in having fewer anal-fin rays 29-31 (vs. 34-36) and fewer
scale rows around caudal peduncle 22-23 (vs. 25); and from Acestrocephalus maculosus in having more anal-fin rays 29-31 (vs. 25-27). The muscular hiatus of the pseudotympanum in Acestrocephalus stigmatus is narrower than that of Acestrocephalus boehlkei, but much more developed than that of Acestrocephalus
maculosus (Ref. 75890).
Body shape (shape guide): fusiform / normal.
