Differs from closely related species Yunnanilus pleurotaenia by the following morphometric characters: standard length/body depth 4 .3-5.6 vs. 3.9-4.9; standard length/head length 4.4-5.1 vs. 3.7-3.9; standard length/caudal-peduncle length 5.7-7.1 vs. 7.7-9.1; head length/snout length 2.7-3.5 vs. 2.5-2.8; caudal-peduncle length/depth 1.2-1.7 vs. 1.1-1.2 (Ref. 76753).
