This species distinguished by the following characters: 28 segmented dorsal-fin rays; 17 segmented anal fin rays; 46 scales in lateral series; 35-37 anterior lateral line scales; no dark grey spot on anterior part of opercle behind upper edge of preopercle (Ref. 81967).
Found in coral reefs in 0-15 m (Ref 90102).
